The fleet strength of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) for Nashik division will go up with the addition of 12 new electric buses which will be running on Nashik-Pune and Nashik-Mumbai routes.
Shekhar Channe, Managing Director of the corporation informed that as many as 12 Shivai e-buses will run on the roads of the Nashik division in April. He reviewed the working of the Nashik division at its central office on N D Patel road. Divisional controller Arun Siya, traffic controller Kiran Bhosale along with MSRTC officials were present on this occasion.
The income and expenditure, and accident status of the corporation were also reviewed. He said that the Shivai bus service has been made available in some districts of the state including Pune, Ahmednagar, and Mumbai. This e-bus service is getting good response from the passengers.
A charging station for this bus service has been set up in Nashik. Due to this, twelve e-buses of Shivai will be available for the Nashik division in April. Due to this, e-buses will soon be seen running on Nashik, Pune and Nashik-Mumbai routes.
Earlier, while the e-bus service was launched in Mumbai and Pune, there were difficulties in getting e-buses as there was no e-charging station in Nashik. The number of e-buses will increase in the future due to the setting up of charging stations.
Earlier, a 50 per cent concession fare has been provided for women passengers from March 17 under the ‘Mahila Samman Yojana’ which is receiving a good response from passengers.
There has been a significant increase in the number of women passengers travelling by State-run buses. “We aim to increase the number of passengers travelling by MSRTC bus. We need to ensure that the passengers get good service,” Channe said.
He also suggested that when the number of passengers is increasing, there should not be a situation where buses are not available or the buses are not in good condition. 30 new buses have been made available for the Nashik division in the last month. Apart from this, more new buses will be made available, he explained.
A charging station for e-bus service has been set up in Nashik. Due to this, twelve Shivai e-buses will be available for the Nashik division in April and Nashikites will see e-buses running on Nashik-Pune and Nashik-Mumbai routes. We aim to increase the number of passengers travelling by MSRTC bus. We need to ensure that the passengers get good service.
