Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Adv Laxman Patil-Pradhan on Tuesday demanded Compulsory Insurance cover for the 53 journalists who have contracted novel coronavirus in Mumbai.
While speaking to UNI, Patil-Pradhan averred that the journalists being infected with the deadly virus is a serious cause of concern and they must be given PPE kits to protect themselves while covering the news. “Journalists should maintain social distancing while taking byte or video footage”, he said.
Acknowledging the hard work done by media in these times of crisis, Mr Patil-Pradhan said that media is playing a vital role in Indian Democracy as a fourth estate so “I request the Mahavikas Agadhi Government to take care of journalists, just like they are taking care of medical professionals in the state.”
NCP Supremo Sharad Pawar’s daughter and Baramati Member of Parliament Supriya Sule, too on late Monday, requested Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray through social media to cover Journalist under Insurance Scheme.
