Agitation against CAA staged in city

Nashik: Thousands of Muslim brethren staged an agitation to protest the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) in Nashik city on Sunday. demanding to withdraw it. The delegation handed over a memorandum regarding this to the Resident Deputy Collector Bhagwat Doifode to give it to the President.

Thousands of people having tri-colour, black flags and banners took part in the agitation. It lasted for around three years at historic Shahjani Eidgah ground in the city. Nashik Markaji Sunni Sirat Committee organised the agitation.

Political leaders of various parties were present on the occasion to support it. Some selected people provided their guidance. Shahar-e-khatib Hafiz Hisamuddin Ashrafi, Qazi Moijoddin Noori, district president of Noori Academy Haji Wasim Pirjada, district president of Raza Academy Ejaz Raza, Congress corporator Dr Hemlata Patil, Vatsala Khaire, Congress city chief Sharad Aher, Nationalist Congress Party city chief Ranjan Thakre, CPI’s Raju Desale, former chairman of Bar Council Adv. Jayant Jaibhave were among those who took part in the agitation.

Meanwhile, congratulations were extended to state Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray for taking a stand that CAA will not be enforced in Maharashtra. While congratulating Thackeray’s stand, discussions will be held with him after a visit to him, informed Khatib-e-Nashik.
