NASHIK :
The Malegaon model is emerging as an effective pattern to fight Covid-19. The flattening curve of fatalities and improved recovery rate is the result of coordinated efforts of the district administration, health department, civic bodies and sharing of responsibilities on the administrative level, thus expressed state revenue minister Balasaheb Thorat.
“The administration tried to curb the spread. Special care was taken in some sensitive zones, including Malegaon. Initially, the growing number of patients in Malegaon was a matter of concern to the state. But today the picture of Malegaon has changed positively due to the formula of mutual sharing and delegation of authority and Responsibilities at the administrative level. The efforts made by the district administration for the eradication of the disease from Malegaon seem to be emerging as a successful model in the state,” the minister said.
Thorat chaired a meeting at government guest house here on Sunday to review the damage caused by Cyclone Nisarga and measures being taken to contain Coronavirus. MP Hemant Godse, divisional commissioner Rajaram Mane, district collector Suraj Mandhare, municipal commissioner Radhakrishna Game, Zilla Parishad chief executive officer Leena Bansod, assistant commissioner of police Laxmikant Patil and district civil surgeon Suresh Jagdale were present.
Thorat said it seems that the number of corona patients in Nashik has increased due to the influx of people from other districts. But due to the vigilance of the administration, immediate measures are being taken. People entering in Nashik from outside regions are being institutionally quarantined before allowing them to go to their home directly.
“Thus, the situation is under control today due to the efforts made at the administrative authorities. Its effects are visible in Malegaon where the number of COVID positive patients and the rate of fatalities are on the declining.
“We need to be vigilant. The danger is not over yet. It’s a long battle. Through self-discipline and awareness in people we will win this battle against the dreaded disease,” Thorat said.
Punchnamas are underway on the damage caused by the cyclone in the district and North Maharashtra. Officials have been directed to complete assessment of crop damage in two days so that government could take appropriate action to compensate the cyclone-affected. Due to the vigilance and preparedness of the administration, we were
could face the Cyclone Nisarga,” the minister said.
