Nashik: Though Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) is suffering from losses for years, it is trying to provide new buses and facilities. The difficulties of passengers travelling by non B, launched by MSRTC will be increased.
A proposal to give concessions for passengers travelling by the new buses is delayed due to a lax attitude of the government. Senior citizens, as well as those passengers eligible for getting concessions, have to suffer financially.
MSRTC is giving concession in ticket fare in the range of 30% to 100% through a total of 29 schemes. MSRTC is receiving financial assistance from the government to compensate for the loss due to this.
However, senior citizens are expressing their disappointment as they are not getting concessions while travelling by non air-conditioned sleeper bus. Currently, as MSRTC has no chairman, many proposals are delayed.
Also, a process to take policy decision has been slowed down, as there is no transport minister full time. While launching non air-conditioned sleeper buses, a proposal to provide concessions in its ticket fare had been sent to the government, however, it has not approved yet.
