Planned allocations for various development works are to be disbursed by the District Planning Committee before March 31. Therefore, within the next week i.e. before March 31, the district administration is faced with the challenge of spending Rs 90 crore. In this background, the administration is seen rushing to spend the unspent funds.
This year, the plan of General Plans of the district budgeted Rs 600 crore has been approved. That amount of funds has also been made available by the government for the Nashik district. Its planning has to be done before March 31 and the administration has accelerated its programmes in that regard.
However, in the mid-term, due to the change of power in the state and the code of conduct for various general elections, time lapsed. As a result, only 35 to 40 per cent of the total budget was spent by the end of January. Therefore, it is planned to spend the balance of Rs 60 per cent of the funds in two to two and a half months.
Meanwhile, in the second week of March, as the strike employees continued for a week, the difficulties increased and the planning to spend the balance development fund was also delayed. As a result, only Rs 446 crore out of Rs 600 crore have been allocated to various departments.
This figure will go up to Rs 510 crore as soon as Rs 65 crore is ordered to be distributed. Therefore, the administration still faces the challenge of disbursing Rs 90 crore before March 31 and spending it.
Rs 446 crore funds have been disbursed to the institutions by the district administration. Rs 411 crore has been spent on this.
The District Planning Officer has clarified that the Zilla Parishad, municipal corporation, municipal council and other departments have received the money from the treasury to their accounts through BDS.
