NASHIK :
Another low-pressure system is forming in the southward direction in the Bay of Bengal and a Cyclone may be observed within in the next few days, state experts. Over three weeks after Cyclone ‘Amphan’ wreaked havoc in West Bengal and over four days after Cyclone Nisarga made landfall on Alibag there are signs of a low-pressure belt forming southward in the Bay of Bengal. This increases the possibility of a third cyclone being created in the sea.
New low-pressure belt in the forming : Prof Johare
“In the southern part of Bay of Bengal, a low-pressure belt is getting developed. This increasing formation of the low-pressure areas could trigger pre-monsoon showers in central and southern parts of India including Maharashtra. We may witness developing the third cyclone in a row in the Indian ocean in the next eight to ten days,” said Prof. Kirankumar Johare, Meteorologist.
Intermittent pre-monsoon showers likely : Aundhkar
Srinivas Aundhkar, director, MGM APJ Abdul Kalam Astrospace Science Centre, Aurangabad has also predicted that entire Maharashtra will continue to witness intermittent pre-monsoon showers with moderate to heavy rains at some places like in Igatpuri. “In Nashik, skies will remain overcast and rains will continue to lash intermittently,” he said.
Aundhkar further predicted that there are likely to be 7 to 8 more cyclones which will be witnessed during this monsoon season which may extend to even months of October, November and December.
He added that low-pressure area is developing in the Bay of Bengal and that next 36 hours will be the decider in the formation of the third cyclone.
