As the Nashik city is developing rapidly, new properties are being added. After taking information from the town planning department, the municipal tax collection department has brought these properties under the ambit of property tax.
The tax collection department has brought 31,933 new properties under the ambit of property tax in the current financial year. With this, the Municipal Corporation has earned a revenue of Rs. 53.75 crore. Moreover, due to this, new water connections have also been added. Due to this, revenue of about Rs. 18 to 20 crore will be added every year in the form of the water tax. Also, by the end of March, another 4,000 properties will be brought under the ambit of property tax.
For the past few years, the financial condition of the Municipal Corporation is critical. Due to this, there is a limitation to the development works. Moreover, the 15th Finance Commission has warned that the sources of revenue must be increased or development schemes will not be funded. At present, the Municipal Corporation is getting the revenue through license fee for new constructions, house and water tax collection by the tax collection department and the refund received from the Centre under GST. Following the instructions of the Municipal Commissioner, various departments have started to find new sources of income. The tax collection department is at the forefront.
A target of 35,000 properties was set for the current year. Out of them, the tax collection department brought 31,933 properties under the tax ambit in the last ten months. Rs. 53.75 crore as property tax has been recovered from them. By the end of March, this number will increase and the Municipal Corporation will get a revenue of Rs. 60 crore through this.
The tax collection department has brought 32,000 new properties under the ambit of property tax. Through that, a tax of Rs. 53.75 crore has been added to the municipal treasury. This number will further increase till the end of March.
