Breeding of birds and wild animals which are becoming rare in the state has been given priority for forest conservation. For this, Forest Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar informed that after establishing a vulture breeding centre in Nashik, after discussing various issues with the Rajasthan government, the necessary measures are being taken to exchange animals, and species of birds. He also explained that discussions are going on in this regard, “After Maharashtra hands over tigers to Rajasthan, other birds and animal cubs will be brought from Rajasthan and conserved in Maharashtra,” Mungantiwar said. On Monday, the awards were presented to the organisations and individuals involved in environmental protection and conservation at the Kusumagraj Smarak.
Honourees: Botanist Jui Pethe, Vaibhav Bhogle of Eco Echo Foundation, ornithologist Pratiksha Kothule, Shankar Shinde (Shankar Baba), who provides medical services along with vulture conservation in Harsul’s Khodipada village, Devachand Mahale, who writes prose and poetry for environmental conservation, bird friend Anil Mali, Anant Sarode, Satish Gogate, environmentalist Dattu Dhage, Sandeep Bhanose. Along with this, the team of Sub-Conservator of Forests Pankaj Garg, and Assistant Conservator of Forests Anil Pawar was also honoured.
Rs 10 cr for Goda Aarti
Mungantiwar asserted that a fund of Rs 10 crore would be allocated immediately to provide basic permanent facilities to perform Goda Aarti at Ramkund. He was speaking in a meeting organised about Godavari Aarti in the central hall of the collectorate.
