Now, only one entrace exam for medical courses

Online form submission begins, Exam on May 3

NASHIK: In a major relief to medical aspirants National Testing Agency (NTA) has declared that there will only be one exam — NEET (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test) — for admission to all medical courses including MBBS, BDS and AYUSH across the country, including AIIMS and Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER), which till last year had their own entrance examination.

The move has brought cheers among the medical students, parents, and academicians. The aspirants will have to go through a single-window NEET exam to be held on May 3, 2020, to seek admission to medical courses such as MBBS/BDS.

The NEET will be conducted in English and other ten regional languages. Students passed in the HSC exam with a specialization in subjects of physics, chemistry, biology, and English will be eligible for apply. Aspirant should be a minimum of 17-year old and a maximum of 25-year to become eligible for NEET.

The exam fee is capped at Rs 1500 for economically weaker sections (EWS), Rs 1400 for OBCs (non-creamy layer) and Rs 800 for reserve category students. Under this, a single window exam will be conducted for medical courses comprising of Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Allopathy and Unani. The recommendation of the health ministry and states to conduct exam in writing form has been approved by NTA.
