NASHIK: Under District Rural Development Scheme, Prime Minister Awas Yojana – Gramin (Ghakul Yojana) is being implemented throughout the district for uplifting the weaker sections of society. The highest number of beneficiaries of this scheme belong to Malegaon taluka and the lowest to Nashik taluka.
Under this scheme, funds are provided for the construction of houses from government grants to uplift the living standards of homeless citizens. In the last five years, 59,000 houses have been constructed in Nashik District under Pradhan Mantri Gharkul Yojana. The scheme has been launched to provide affordable housing to economically backward citizens.
The Rural Development Agency claimed that only eligible candidates from the Nashik district have received the benefits. The scheme helps them financially to build their home and fulfilling their dream. Malegaon taluka has benefited the most from the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme in the district, followed by Satana and Surgana.
The lowest number of beneficiaries belong to Nashik taluka. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the scheme on November 20, 2016, in Agra to uplift the living standards of rural citizens. The scheme is now five years old.
59,000 beneficiaries in five years
Between 2016-17 to 20-21, 59,000 houses have been constructed in rural areas due to the scheme, and each of these beneficiaries received a grant of Rs. 2 lakh for house construction. The grant is transferred to the beneficiary’s account after geo-tagging the house.
