Oxygen supply to industries resumed

NASHIK: After the unlock, the industries in the district have been reopened. As per the government instructions, 20 per cent of oxygen supply has been resumed to the industrial area from Monday. At present industries need 7 metric tonnes of oxygen and this quota has been made available by the district administration.

The number of Covid-19 cases is declining fast in the district and the situation is under control. In the past, the number of active patients had gone up to 40,000, which led to a huge shortage of medical oxygen in the district. The daily requirement of medical oxygen had gone up to 135 metric tonnes. An oxygen quota of 85 metric tonnes was sanctioned for the district. Despite medical oxygen procurement from other districts, the supply had reached 103 metric tonnes.

Therefore, the district administration had cut off the oxygen supply to all industries except medicalrelated industries and used it for hospitals. However, the situation is restoring and the demand for medical oxygen has lowered. The state government instructed to provide 20 per cent of oxygen to the industries. Currently, Nashik district is getting 45 metric tonnes of oxygen. As per 20 per cent, 9 metric tonnes of oxygen quota is meant for industries.

“The government has directed that 20 per cent of oxygen should be made available to the industries. The district is getting 45 metric tonnes of oxygen per day. As per 20 per cent, 9 metric tonnes of oxygen will have to be given to the industries. But they need 7 metric tonnes per day and the district administration has made this quota available to them.” – Duttaprasad Nade, Additional District Collector
