MUMBAI :

Appealing to the migrant labourers stranded in Maharashtra to remain there for some time, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday assured them that the state government will arrange for their travel back home, once the crisis ends.

‘I give you my word. Maharashtra government will take you to your homes, the day this crisis ends. I believe that when you go back to your homes, you should go back happily & not out of fear.

‘We’re in talks with the Centre. I’m confident that a solution will come out in the coming days. Don’t worry. We’re gradually starting work in Maharashtra. If it’s possible, you can come back to work,’ Mr Thackeray said via video-conferencing.

‘As we don’t run our economy now, we’ll be in financial crisis after we come out of the COVID-19 pandemis. We’re starting some business activities in a limited way. Fortunately, several of our districts have reported zero positive cases, he added.

‘We have done over 66,000 tests so far. Out of these, 95 per cent have come out negative, while around 3600 were positive. Around 350 of these have recovered and have been discharged. Besides, 75 per cent are either mildly symptomatic or asymptomatic. Fifty-two patients are serious. We are looking at saving their lives,’ said the Chief Minister.
