Farmers demand changes

NASHIK: The farmers have demanded to change the proposed route of the Nashik-Pune Semi High Speed railway project stating that the agriculture area has already been reduced. If the railway acquires the land again, farmers will be landless. The land acquisition department has issued notices last week to the farmers of Nanegaon, Sansari, Belatagavhan and Vihitgaon for the Nashik-Pune Semi High Speed railway project.

There was uncertainty about the railway line as farmers in the concerned village opposed the project as the action for the land survey would be taken from June 8 to 12. The villagers along with MP Hemant Godse, Maharel construction department officials Sachin Kulkarni, Raghunath Wagh and Mukul Pawar met villagers at Sansari on Wednesday morning.

The farmers at that time pointed out the fact that due to the proposed railway line Sansari village will suffer a huge loss. Over more than fifty feet of land is being acquired for the third and fourth lines of the Nashik-Mumbai railway line, so many will have to become landless.

The question was raised as to why there is an insistence on this line when the survey of another line was conducted. However, officials showed their ignorance about this line. If a new route is constructed via Deolali Camp railway station, the project can be set up on government land and the horticulture area can be saved, said Sarpanch Vinod Godse, Deputy Sarpanch Shekhar Godse and others.

Set up railway station at Nanegaon

In a meeting held at Talebaba temple in Nanegaon, the villagers of Nanegaon aggressively opposed the project. Maharel official Kulkarni gave information about the project and listened to the grievances of the farmers. At this time, the villagers made ten major demands and clearly stated that the project would be allowed only if the railway station is set up at Nanegaon. MP Godse, Sunil Adke, Dnyaneshwar Shinde defended the farmers.

Farmers in Belatgavhan want full compensation

At a meeting of farmers at Belatgavhan village, the villagers demanded 100 per cent compensation to the affected farmers and demanded that the temple trust should not be given any compensation while doing this.
