NASHIK: A provision of water has been made for the Mumbai-Delhi corridor project. A total of 2.6 TMC water has been reserved from the proposed Upper-Vaitarna-Kadwa-Devlink river interlinking. A letter mentioning that additional water will be available for the district through this project has been given by the water resources department to the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation, informed MP Godse.
Four years ago, the then government had decided to construct the Delhi-Mumbai corridor at Aurangabad and Nashik. The work at Aurangabad is nearing completion. As the Delhi-Mumbai corridor will help in the development of Nashik district, MP Godse had initiated efforts for the availability of water. Meanwhile, he took a consistent follow up for reserving 1.6 TMC water from the proposed Upper Vaitarna-Kadwa-Devlink river interlink project Godse had recently called a special meeting at the office of the water resources department to discuss the issue.
In the meeting, he explained the importance of the Delhi-Mumbai corridor and the requirement of water for this. As the demand was just, the water resources department agreed to reserve 2.6 TMC of water from the proposed Upper Vaitarna-KadwaDevlink river confluence project. The department has recently given a letter in this regard to the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation.
