NASHIK: A total of four sports personalities in the district have been chosen for this year’s District Sports Awards. In women’s category of Meritorious Player Award, Aishwarya Sudhakar Shinde from Daulat Nagar, Soygaon Taluka Malegaon has been selected under Baseball sports category.
The awardee will receive a certificate, a memento and Rs. 10,000 in cash. In men’s category, Ravindra Dnyaneshwar Kadale from Pachore Wani, Taluka Niphad will receive the honour for the sports category of Canoeing and Kayaking.
Divyang player Gauri Sunil Garje from Satpur, Nashik has been selected in Para Swimming category, while under the Sports Coach Award, Sharad Bhaskarrao Patil from Panchavati, Nashik has been selected in Kabaddi sports event. The awards are presented annually on 26th January, Republic Day. However, District Sports Officer Pallavi Dhatrak said that the presentation will be done after the restrictions are relaxed.
The awards are presented every year by Directorate of Sports and Youth Services, Maharashtra State and District Sports Office for the contribution made in the field of sports. The awards are given to encourage them to excel in the field of sports.
As per the Government Resolution dated 24th January, 2020, according to the revised provisions, the District Sports Awards are distributed in four categories. Accordingly, applications were invited from all over the district in categories of Meritorious Player – Men and Women, sportsperson with disability and Meritorious Sports Coach.
A total of 18 such applications were received. The application were scrutinized by the Scrutiny Committee and a total of four awards have been announced, namely, a male player, a female player, a sports coach and a player with disability.
