NASHIK: Like Rajya Rani Express, Tapovan and Nashik-Pune Express, Manmad-Godavari Express is also being planned to extend its services upto Hingoli. This proposal by Hingoli MP Hemant Patil has left daily passengers from Nashik disappointed.
Hingoli MP Hemant Patil has demanded to extend services of Manmad-Mumbai Godavari Express to Hingoli to make it easier for the citizens of Hingoli to travel to Mumbai. He has written a similar letter to Minister of State for Railways Raosaheb Danve. This move is likely to lead to a dispute between Nashik and Hingoli.
At present, Godavari Express (Train No. 12117 and 12118) has been suspended for the last two years due to Corona crisis. Railways are ignoring it despite strong demand from Nashik commuters to start it.The Godavari Express departing from Manmad to Mumbai is very convenient for the citizens of Nashik city and district.
The citizens of the Hingoli district are demanding that the time of this train should be kept the same and it should be taken to Hingoli. “Railway stations of Hingoli, Purna, Parbhani, Jalna, Mukundwadi, Aurangabad, Lasur, Rotegaon, Manmad, Lasalgaon, Niphad, Nashik, Deolali, Igatpuri, Kalyan, Thane, Dadar and Mumbai should be covered in its route,” demanded MP Patil in a letter to minister Danve.
Meanwhile, Rajesh Phokne, President of Monthly Pass Holders and Passengers’ Welfare Association, former MLA Yogesh Gholap, Kiran Borse, Sanjay Shinde, Gurmeet Singh Rawal of Railway Council and Railway Passengers’ Association demanded that Godavari Express should not be taken to Hingoli. The unions have warned of an agitation under the leadership of MP Hemant Godse.
