NASHIK :
The government has decided the free distribution of 1 kg pulses, tur or chana dal, per household in addition to the 5 kg food grains per person under PM Gareeb Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY) for three months period of April, May and June to 7 crore poor beneficiaries in the state covered under National Food Security Act (NFSA) to ensure availability of food to poor people during lockdown due to COVID-19.
Under NFSA, the government provides 5 kg of food grains per person at subsidised rates. It provides rice at Rs 3 a kg and coarse grains like wheat at Rs 2 a kg. The beneficiaries are also getting 5-kg free rice over and above their monthly quota of 5 kg food grains per month.
“In addition to this, the state government has decided the free distribution of 1 kg tur or chana dal per household for the months of April, May and June,” said state food and civil supplies minister Chhagan Bhujbal further adding that the state government will procure 16000 metric tons of pulses from Central pool per month to benefit 7 crore ration cardholders.
That means beneficiary would be entitled to get 11 kg of food grains per month till June. Five kg of rice and one kg of tur/chana dal will be free under the PMGKY, While 5 kg will be available at subsidised rates over ration shops.
There are as many as 763305 Antyoday and Priority ration cardholders in the district availing ration through altogether 2608 fair price shops under the NFSA.
